最近非常に暑い日が続いておりますが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。
本日はIICOkidsの8月レッスンの様子をご紹介させていただきます。今回のレッスンを通じて、暑さを表す様々な英単語や夏に関連した英語などを学び、表現の幅を広げていきましょう！
今回は、生徒たちがレッスン内容をより分かりやすく理解できるように取り入れている、私が一番気に入っている工夫などをご紹介します。
1. What we did in the lesson
Playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors"
Today we held an English lesson for young children using songs, movement, picture books, and a craft
activity. We started the lesson with the Hello Song, where the children greeted each other, sang together, and moved their bodies.
Next, we enjoyed the Little Fish movement song. The children pretended to be little fish and practiced English words such as hat, glasses, and mask.
After the movement activity, we read the picture books “The Honey Ice Cream” and “Swimmy.” The children listened carefully and learned new English words about food, animals, and actions.
Finally, the children made their own ice cream using clay. They chose their favorite colors, shaped the clay
into scoops, and placed it on an ice cream cone. We ended the lesson with a goodbye song.
2. What I taught the student
The goal of this lesson was to help children learn English through songs, stories, movement, and hands-on
activities. The main focus was on:
• greetings (Hello, How are you?)
• food vocabulary (ice cream, honey)
• animals (fish, panda, bear)
• body parts (head, eyes, mouth)
• simple action words (jump, roll, choose, make)
I encouraged the children to repeat new vocabulary,
answer simple questions, and participate actively
throughout the lesson.
3. How did I make it easy to understand
I used simple English, repetition, gestures, and demonstrations before each activity. During the movement song, I showed each action so the children could copy it easily.
During story time, I pointed at the pictures and explained new words using simple sentences. The craft activity allowed the children to learn by doing, making the vocabulary more memorable. I also smiled, maintained eye contact, and stayed at the children’s eye level to create a comfortable learning environment.
4. The student’s favourite part
The children especially enjoyed making their own ice cream with clay. They also had fun singing the Little
Fish song and acting out the different movements while learning new English words.
5. My favourite part
My favourite part of the lesson was seeing the children use their imagination during the craft activity.
They were excited to create their own colorful ice creams and happily showed their finished work their
parents. I also enjoyed reading the picture books and seeing the children respond to the story with interest
